Australian feds seize mansion, Bitcoin allegedly linked to crypto exchange hack

Australian man from Queensland forfeited Bitcoin, mansion, and Mercedes-Benz after AFP seized assets worth $2.88 million. Investigation linked him to theft of 950 Bitcoin from French exchange in 2013. No criminal charges, but court order for forfeiture in April due to lack of legitimate earnings connection. AFP has powers to seize assets under Proceeds of Crime Act. Owner of assets, Shane Stephen Duffy, pleaded guilty to fraud and hacking in 2016 for selling personal data of League of Legends players. Duffy not involved in 2011 Riot Games hack but sold data for profit. AFP to reinvest proceeds from asset sale into community crime prevention measures. CACT has restrained over $1.2 billion in assets since July 2019.
