Bangladesh Denim Expo showcases growth and innovation in the industry

The Bangladesh Denim Expo panelists remain confident in the country’s global sourcing position despite trade disputes. The event drew 57 exhibitors from 13 countries, featuring discussions on industry growth and innovation. Bangladesh’s apparel exports to the US increased by 26.64%, surpassing India, Pakistan, Vietnam, and China.
Founder Mostafiz Uddin highlighted the industry’s progress in skill development and sustainability amidst US trade volatility. Bangladesh is the largest denim exporter to the US and Europe, benefitting from duty-free access under the EBA and GSP. The country faces potential loss of export privileges without GSP Plus status by 2029.
The expo showcased innovative denim fabrics and designs, emphasizing capacity-building for industry professionals. Speaker sessions focused on preparing Bangladesh’s denim industry for future challenges, shifting from plans to actions. The Bangladesh Textile Mills Association urged the US for duty-free access for Bangladeshi garments made from US cotton.
