High-yield savings interest rates are at 4.44% APY, a significant increase

May 25, 2025 by MarketNewsData

From Yahoo Finance: 2025-05-25 06:00:00

Savings interest rates are decreasing after the Federal Reserve’s target rate cuts. The national average savings account rate is 0.42%, up from 0.06% three years ago. The highest savings account rate available is 4.44% APY from Peak Bank with no minimum deposit required. Opening a high-yield savings account now can take advantage of these high rates.

Interest earned from a savings account depends on the annual percentage rate (APY). At a 0.41% interest rate with daily compounding, $1,000 would grow to $1,004.11 after a year. Choosing a 4% APY high-yield account would result in $1,040.81 after a year, including $40.81 in interest. Depositing more money means earning more interest.

For example, with a $10,000 deposit in a 4% APY high-yield account, the total balance after a year would be $10,408.08, earning $408.08 in interest. It’s essential to compare rates to maximize earnings with savings accounts.
