Better EV Stock: QuantumScape vs. ChargePoint

From Yahoo Finance: 2025-05-25 18:52:00

QuantumScape has not yet sold any of its solid-state batteries, while ChargePoint plans to install more charging stations as the EV market heats up. QuantumScape and ChargePoint offer different ways to invest in the growing EV market, with QuantumScape developing advanced batteries and ChargePoint building charging infrastructure. Both stocks have dropped significantly from their all-time highs during the meme stock mania in December 2020.

QuantumScape’s solid-state batteries promise better performance than traditional lithium-ion batteries, but the company has yet to commercialize its products. ChargePoint, on the other hand, manages a vast network of charging ports across North America and Europe. While QuantumScape faces competition from major automakers, ChargePoint aims to boost its commercialization efforts by upgrading its processes.

ChargePoint closed fiscal 2025 with over 342,000 charging ports, experiencing revenue fluctuations due to market conditions. Analysts project a 21% annual revenue growth rate for ChargePoint from fiscal 2025 to fiscal 2028. With low valuation multiples and potential growth in the EV market, ChargePoint could be a strong investment compared to QuantumScape, which lacks revenue and commercial products.

Despite QuantumScape’s ambitious plans, its lack of revenue and commercialized products make it a risky investment. ChargePoint, with its established charging network and growth potential, may be a safer bet in the EV market. Analysts expect ChargePoint to see positive earnings in fiscal 2027 and significant revenue growth by fiscal 2028. Investors may find ChargePoint a more attractive option compared to QuantumScape.
