Bonds, Commodities Drive WisdomTree ETF Growth in Q1

WisdomTree Inc. reported a 5.5% increase in assets under management in the first quarter, reaching $115.8 billion. The company saw growth in commodity funds and bond products, with inflows in the U.S. mostly going to the WisdomTree Floating Rate Treasury Fund.

Big ETF issuers like BlackRock, Charles Schwab, and JPMorgan reported strong first quarters despite market volatility. Investors shifted funds into fixed income as stock values dropped. Invesco saw a modest gain in assets, while State Street Corp. experienced a sharp drop in net flows.

WisdomTree added a “digital assets” category to its statement, with assets in the category rising to $132 million. Globally, the company added 20 ETFs over the year, totaling 375 products. Its European unit attracted $1.1 billion, while U.S. business gained $1.8 billion, with European ETFs seeing $3.3 billion in market gains.

Specializing in dividend ETFs, WisdomTree has six of its top 10 funds in that category. The company’s growth was largely driven by bond and commodity funds, with assets increasing by $6 billion from the prior period. Fixed income gained $2.1 billion in appreciation alone.
