Britannia Industries hands CEO role to MD Varun Berry

Varun Berry has been appointed as the new CEO of Britannia Industries, in addition to his roles as executive vice-chairman and managing director. Berry, who joined the company in 2013, has over 38 years of experience with companies like Hindustan Unilever and Pepsico. Britannia reported a 9.3% increase in total revenue for the fourth quarter, reaching Rs44.32bn ($519m).

The company’s total comprehensive income for the quarter rose 4.2% to Rs5.56bn, with net profit increasing to Rs5.59bn. For the full fiscal year, consolidated revenue grew 7% to Rs179.42bn, while total comprehensive income edged up 2% to Rs21.84bn. The board has recommended a final dividend of Rs75 per equity share for FY2024–25, subject to approval at the AGM.

Berry highlighted the group’s resilience in a challenging operating environment marked by rising commodity prices and subdued demand across FMCG categories. He stated that Britannia will closely monitor commodity prices and focus on driving healthy, profitable growth to strengthen market leadership. The company’s performance reflects its commitment to navigating difficult market conditions successfully.
