CIMA has updated the CGMA Professional Qualification syllabus to launch in 2026, focusing on finance business partnering, technology skills, and critical thinking. The revision aligns with Future of Finance 2.0 and Future of Jobs Report 2025 findings. The new syllabus includes sustainability and financial technology topics. Students taking exams this year are not affected.
To support the transition, CIMA will provide study materials in October for the May 2026 CGMA exams. The update aims to enhance competencies like finance business partnering, analytical thinking, and strategic planning. AICPA & CIMA VP Stephen Flatman highlights the qualification’s role simulations and problem-solving approach for finance professionals to excel.
In addition to the syllabus update, CIMA offers over 50 hours of study support materials to help candidates prepare for the CGMA designation. The AICPA and CIMA recognized 177 accounting and finance professionals in Sri Lanka with ACMA, FCMA certificates, and CGMA designation in March 2025. The changes aim to equip professionals with the skills needed for future roles in accounting and finance.
