A hacker taunts blockchain investigator ZachXBT after stealing $42.5 million from Coinbase users. The hacker swapped Bitcoin for Ether using THORChain and left a mocking message for ZachXBT. PeckShield reported the hacker continued to move funds, converting 8,697 ETH into 22 million DAI. Coinbase faces lawsuits and potential financial losses of $180-400 million after the breach. The attackers demanded a $20 million ransom, but Coinbase offered a bounty for information on them. THORChain under scrutiny for facilitating illicit transactions, including North Korea’s Lazarus Group laundering stolen funds. A THORChain developer resigned after a vote to block transactions linked to Lazarus was overturned.
