DHL Supply Chain acquires IDS Fulfillment to enhance e-commerce services in the U.S. The deal adds 1.3 million sq ft of warehouse space and a diverse customer base to DHL’s operations. This marks the second e-commerce acquisition for DHL in 2025, following the purchase of Inmar Supply Chain Solutions in January.

The acquisition ensures small and midsize companies have access to DHL’s logistics solutions tailored to their needs. With the global e-commerce market projected to grow by 8% annually by 2029, DHL is strategically investing in expanding its capabilities to meet the increasing demand. The move also aligns with DHL’s Strategy 2030 agenda.

DHL plans to retain IDS’ local managers to ensure continuity of service for customers. The acquisition enhances DHL’s fulfillment network and strengthens its ability to offer seamless global e-commerce solutions with local expertise and reach. This strategic move comes as more multinational companies are seeking fulfillment capabilities in North America.

The U.S. government cancels de minimis provision for low-value shipments from China and Hong Kong, imposing 145% tariffs on individual orders. E-commerce sellers like Temu, Shein, and Alibaba are adapting by establishing distribution operations in the U.S. with domestically sourced inventory or bulk ocean shipments to mitigate the impact of tariffs and import fees.
