The estimated earnings growth for S&P 500 companies in the first quarter of 2025 has increased, with year-over-year earnings growth now predicted to be 12.9%, up from 8.9% a week ago, thanks to strong results from tech-related companies like Microsoft.

The forecast for second-quarter S&P 500 earnings growth has decreased to 6.9%, down from 10.2% estimated earlier, due to uncertainties surrounding President Trump’s tariffs and global trade tensions impacting companies’ guidance.

Analysts at LSEG based their latest forecast on results from 325 S&P 500 companies and estimates for the remaining companies. Companies worldwide are facing challenges due to the uncertainty caused by trade tensions and are either pulling or lowering their guidance as a result.
