The European Commission is seeking public feedback on Microsoft’s proposals to address competition concerns related to Teams. Microsoft has offered commitments to sell Office without Teams at a lower price and increase interoperability with Teams’ competitors. Failure to comply could result in fines up to 10% of global turnover. Interested parties can submit views on the proposed commitments.

In response to antitrust concerns, Microsoft has offered commitments to sell Office without Teams at a reduced price, increase interoperability with competitors, and allow data migration out of Teams. The European Commission found Microsoft limited competition by bundling Teams with popular productivity suites. Microsoft commits to align worldwide offers and pricing with the commitments for seven years.

If Microsoft’s proposed commitments become binding, they will be monitored by a trustee for seven years, with interoperability and data portability obligations lasting ten years. Disputes will be subject to fast-track arbitration if concerns persist. Microsoft aims to address competition concerns related to Teams and Office suites, following a formal investigation by the European Commission.
