Main Street Sports Group’s regional sports networks are gaining streaming subscribers rapidly. FanDuel Sports Network reported a doubling of paid subscribers to nearly 650,000 in eight weeks, aiming for one million by year-end. The network airs coverage of 30 MLB, NBA, and NHL teams, with streaming averaging 250,000 unique daily users this MLB season, increasing watch time by 9%.
Main Street Sports Group, post-bankruptcy, has 15 networks under the FanDuel Sports Network banner, offering new ways to stream games. Deals with Amazon Prime Video and partnerships with SB Nation and Yahoo Sports have accelerated subscriber growth. The growth is attributed to efficient acquisition programs and promotional offers from team partners.
Regional sports networks, including those owned by Main Street Sports, are adapting to losses from pay-TV subscribers shifting to streaming. FanDuel Sports Network subscriptions start at $19.99/month, with higher prices for broader access. Despite facing financial turmoil and evolving models, the network aims to test lower price points based on region-specific offers and optimal subscription strategies.
