Five-Year Note Auction Attracts Average Demand

The Treasury Department announced the results of this month’s auction of $70 billion worth of five-year notes, with an average demand and a high yield of 4.071 percent. Last month, a similar auction drew a high yield of 3.995 percent. The bid-to-cover ratio for the recent auction was 2.39, slightly below the average ratio of 2.40 from the previous ten auctions. In contrast, this month’s auction of $69 billion worth of two-year notes had below average demand. The Treasury is set to reveal the results of the upcoming auction of $44 billion worth of seven-year notes on Thursday.
