Ford pulls guidance, warns it will take $1.5 billion hit from Trump’s tariffs

Ford Motor has suspended its annual guidance due to uncertainty over Trump’s tariffs, estimating a $1.5 billion hit to adjusted earnings. The automaker faces $2.5 billion in additional costs this year from importing vehicles. Ford’s earnings per share dropped to 14 cents, but beat expectations with cost improvements. GM also cut profit forecasts due to tariffs, with Ford having a higher mix of U.S. sales. Stellantis also suspended guidance amid tariff uncertainty. Ford is projected to incur up to $5.5 billion in losses on its EV operations, having already lost $10 billion since 2023. The company ended a costly project for a next-gen electrical architecture, saving capital. Ford Pro’s commercial segment saw revenue drop 16%, while the gasoline division posted $21 billion in quarterly revenue and the Model e division, including EV efforts, recorded $1.2 billion in revenue.
