Taiwan’s Foxconn is set to announce a second Japanese auto partner, Chairman Young Liu revealed. The company, known for making Apple’s iPhones, aims to diversify. Foxconn’s subsidiary Foxtron Vehicle Technologies signed a deal with Mitsubishi Motors for an electric vehicle model. The company sees partnerships in Japan as crucial for its EV business growth.
Amid competition from Chinese brands, Foxconn’s interest in Japanese car makers grows. Mitsubishi Motors, part of the Nissan-Renault alliance, is partnering with Foxconn. The Apple supplier is considering a stake in Nissan for EV cooperation. Foxtron joint venture with Yulon focuses on EVs, with Luxgen as a major client in Taiwan.
