Private investment firm GI Partners has launched a tech-enabled platform focused on acquiring and expanding managing general agencies (MGAs) across various coverage lines. Developed with industry veterans Brad Emmons and Brian Hanuschak, the platform emphasizes underwriting, technology-driven operations, and service to carriers, brokers, and policyholders.
Emmons, co-founder of Orchid Underwriters, acquired by Brown & Brown in 2022, brings leadership experience from Forza Insurance Holdings. Hanuschak, former CEO of Victor Insurance Managers, a Marsh & McLennan subsidiary, led the company to over $3bn in annual premiums.
GI Partners director Steve Johnson sees significant opportunity in the MGA market, aiming to leverage operational expertise and past investments in the insurance sector, such as Insurity and Patriot Growth Insurance Services. The platform will focus on identifying, partnering with, and scaling leading MGAs.
The new platform will benefit from GI Partners’ experience in the insurance sector, following its acquisition of Insurity in 2019. Emmons and Hanuschak are set to help accelerate growth, enhance capabilities through technology and analytics, and provide unique solutions to the market.
