Google says it will appeal online search antitrust decision

Alphabet’s Google plans to appeal an antitrust decision proposing less aggressive measures than the 10-year regime suggested by enforcers. U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta heard closing arguments on addressing Google’s online search monopoly. In April, a judge ruled Google illegally dominated online advertising tech markets, with the DOJ recommending selling off Google Ad Manager. Antitrust enforcers want Google to share search data and stop large payments to smartphone makers. Google faces concerns about its search monopoly giving it an edge in AI products like Gemini. Google’s attorney stated they have addressed competition concerns in AI by ending exclusive agreements with wireless carriers and smartphone makers.
