Persona, a San Francisco-based company, raised $200m in a Series D funding round to create a “verified identity layer” for the AI-driven internet. The round, led by Founders Fund and Ribbit Capital, values the company at $2bn. Existing backers include Coatue, BOND, First Round Capital, and Index Ventures. Coatue co-founder Thomas Laffont sees identity as a key trend in digital transformation and praises Persona’s software-native solution. The company’s platform offers tools for businesses to securely manage identities and adapt to changing regulations and customer needs. Individuals can use the platform for a reusable identity across different services, prioritizing privacy and consent. Persona’s configurability and privacy-first approach allow it to evolve with changing regulations and fraud patterns. The platform includes automation and orchestration tools to streamline identity verification processes.
