Inmarsat Maritime, a Viasat company, has partnered with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) to upgrade their fleet to Inmarsat’s NexusWave service, enhancing connectivity for LNG carriers, oil tankers, and car carriers. MOL seeks multi-layered satellite communications to support digitalization and crew connectivity, with NexusWave offering high-speed internet, unlimited data, and global coverage. Real-world tests of NexusWave showed download speeds up to 330–340 Mbps, upload speeds up to 70–80 Mbps, and over 99.9% network availability. The partnership aims to accelerate maritime digitalization and provide reliable, high-speed connectivity for MOL vessels.
