Investors sell U.S. shares in past week flock to Japan, Europe, BofA note shows

Investors shifted away from U.S. stocks to Japanese and European shares last week, according to BofA Global Research. U.S. equities saw an $8.9 billion outflow, while Japanese shares had a $4.4 billion inflow and European shares had over $3 billion in inflows. Despite the turmoil caused by President Trump’s tariff announcement, there was no major dumping of U.S. assets by foreign owners. However, U.S. Treasuries experienced a significant outflow of $4.5 billion, the largest since late 2023, and gold had its first weekly outflow since January.
