J. Murphy & Sons is acquiring a 40% stake in Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure, a Sydney-based contractor, to expand its presence in Oceania. Abergeldie, founded in 1994, has over 800 employees and reported a turnover of A$676m in 2024 across various sectors. The deal’s financial terms were not disclosed, expected to close this month.

Murphy, a British construction company founded in 1951, has expanded internationally, entering North America and now Australia with the Abergeldie investment. CEO John Murphy is optimistic about the Australian market and looks forward to collaborating with Abergeldie on their growth plans. The partnership aims to deliver world-class infrastructure and improve lives.

In October 2023, J. Murphy & Sons secured the main construction contract for the Cambridge South station project in England. The company’s acquisition of the stake in Abergeldie signifies its ongoing international expansion efforts. Abergeldie’s expertise and track record will complement Murphy’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure projects worldwide.
