JM Smucker is closing its Indianapolis facility to optimize its sweet baked snacks unit, acquired from Hostess in 2023 for $5.6bn. Production will move to other plants by early 2026. The company did not disclose the number of employees affected. It posted a $662.3m loss in Q3 due to Hostess challenges.

JM Smucker laid off 79 workers in Kansas and divested its cookies brand to Second Nature Brands for $305m. The deal included Voortman Bakery, acquired in 2019. In February, it sold Cloverhill and Big Texas brands to JTM Foods for around $40m. The company continues to streamline operations.
