The layoffs mainly affected software engineers, as well as talent account directors and senior product managers. This move is part of Microsoft’s broader plan to reduce staff by 3%, affecting both Microsoft employees and those at LinkedIn. The tech industry as a whole has been cutting jobs, with companies like Meta, Google, and Autodesk also making layoffs. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has emphasized the use of AI in coding, potentially impacting engineering roles.
