Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has surpassed El Salvador in Bitcoin holdings, adding $129 million worth of BTC. The total holding is now 6,796 Bitcoin, valued at $707 million. Metaplanet started accumulating BTC in April 2024. The firm also reported a Bitcoin Yield of 38% for the current quarter.

Metaplanet has been aggressively buying Bitcoin, with recent purchases including 5,555 BTC on May 7 and a total of 18,586 BTC in April. The firm is now the largest holder of Bitcoin in Asia and the tenth largest globally. Meanwhile, Michael Saylor hinted at another purchase by his firm, Strategy, posting a chart of their Bitcoin treasury portfolio.
