Metaplanet scoops 1,004 Bitcoin in 2nd-biggest buy ever

Japanese investment firm Metaplanet recently made its second-largest single Bitcoin purchase, acquiring over 1,000 Bitcoin as the cryptocurrency nearly reached its all-time high. The firm spent around $104.6 million to buy 1,004 Bitcoin, totaling 7,800 Bitcoin worth $807 million. Metaplanet now holds the largest Bitcoin amount among Asian public companies and the tenth largest globally.
Metaplanet has been aggressively accumulating Bitcoin, with 2,800 purchased in May alone. The firm made four purchases in April totaling 794 BTC and six purchases in March totaling 1,655 BTC. Michael Saylor, with 568,840 Bitcoin worth $59 billion, remains the leader in corporate BTC holdings. Corporate entities are the largest net buyers of Bitcoin this year, surpassing ETFs, governments, and retail investors.
Metaplanet is raising $21 million through bonds to acquire more Bitcoin. If the firm buys another 301 BTC, it will surpass Galaxy Digital Holdings and secure the ninth spot with 8,100 Bitcoin in holdings. River researchers revealed that corporations are leading the way in Bitcoin purchases this year, representing 77% of the growth in Bitcoin holdings. Michael Saylor hints at another Bitcoin purchase soon, showcasing Strategy’s dominance in corporate BTC holdings.
