From Nasdaq: 2025-05-13 14:06:00
Microsoft Corp. announced plans to cut 6,000 jobs in an effort to reduce management layers. The layoffs will affect less than 3% of total headcount and will occur across geographies and employee levels, including LinkedIn. This move comes after the company laid off 10,000 employees in January 2023.
The software giant, with 228,000 employees as of June 2024, is under pressure to control expenses due to investments in data centers supporting AI services and Azure cloud platform. Microsoft plans to spend around $80 billion on server farms this fiscal year. Other tech companies like Meta Platforms Inc. have also announced layoffs this year.
