Mitsubishi Heavy Industries expects a 9.6% increase in operating profit this year due to strong defence demand. Operating profit for the current fiscal year is projected at 420 billion yen, up from 383.2 billion yen last year. Aerospace and defence segment profit is set to grow by 40%, while energy systems profit will rise by 17%.
The forecast does not consider the impact of U.S. tariff policies. Revenues for the full 2024-25 year reached 5.02 trillion yen, slightly beating analysts’ estimates. However, pretax profit was below expectations at 374.5 billion yen, compared to the consensus estimate of 401.6 billion yen.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ positive outlook is driven by increased demand in aerospace and defence sectors. The company remains cautious about potential risks from U.S. tariff policies. Operating profit is expected to grow significantly in these key segments, contributing to overall financial growth.
