From CNBC: 2025-05-29 13:55:00
Non-alcoholic beer is projected to surpass ale as the second-largest beer category globally in 2024, with a 9% volume growth while overall beer volume fell by 1%. IWSR forecasts an 8% annual growth for no-alcohol beer through 2029, appealing to consumers cutting back on alcohol consumption, especially among younger demographics.
Despite holding just 2% of the global beer market share, non-alcoholic beer is gaining traction with consumers who are embracing a “sober curious” lifestyle. Major beer brands like Guinness, Heineken, and Budweiser have introduced zero-proof versions in response to the rising demand, with global retail sales exceeding $17 billion in 2023.
Athletic Brewing has emerged as the leading no-alcohol beer brand in the U.S., capturing 17% of the market share and surpassing established names like AB InBev’s Bud Zero and Heineken’s 0.0. The company, founded in 2018, has seen rapid growth, with a reported valuation of around $800 million in 2024. Celebrity-backed alcohol brands are also entering the non-alcoholic beer market, adding to its popularity and market growth.
