OpenAI is set to acquire artificial intelligence-assisted coding tool Windsurf for $3 billion, pending closure of the deal. Windsurf, previously known as Codeium, was valued at $1.25 billion last August and had been in talks with investors for funding at a $3 billion valuation. The acquisition would enhance OpenAI’s coding capabilities, particularly with ChatGPT. OpenAI has seen a significant increase in weekly active users, surpassing 400 million in February, and is planning to raise up to $40 billion in a new funding round led by SoftBank Group at a $300 billion valuation.
