OpenAI and Microsoft are renegotiating their partnership terms to allow OpenAI to potentially launch an IPO while ensuring Microsoft’s access to AI models. Microsoft has invested over $13 billion in OpenAI. Negotiations include equity stakes and access to new technology beyond 2030. Terms of the initial 2019 contract are also being revised.

OpenAI plans to share less revenue with Microsoft as it restructures. Microsoft recently altered terms of their deal with OpenAI due to a joint venture with Oracle and SoftBank to build AI data centers in the US. Both companies have not responded to requests for comment on the negotiations.
