OpenAI is restructuring and reducing revenue sharing with Microsoft, limiting CEO Sam Altman’s power. They plan to cut the revenue shared with Microsoft by at least half by the end of the decade, down from 20% agreed upon through 2030. Microsoft revised a deal with OpenAI in January, with plans to continue partnership elements through 2030. OpenAI aims to only share 10% of revenues with Microsoft by 2030, as Microsoft seeks access to OpenAI’s technology beyond that. Both companies are working on finalizing details of the recapitalization.
