UK neobank Revolut plans to invest $1.12bn in France and apply for a French banking license. The announcement was made at an investment summit hosted by President Macron. Revolut will create 200 jobs in France and establish a new office in Paris. Lithuania will remain a key base for its European operations.

The existing Lithuanian banking license allows Revolut to sell products in France. Acquiring a second EU banking license will enhance its ability to provide tailored services in the French market. Revolut, with over 55 million customers, operates without physical branches and employs around 300 people in France.

Revolut obtained a UK banking license in 2024 after a three-year process. The neobank recently partnered with Dutch identity services provider Fourthline for expansion support, operational agility, and scalability. The move aims to boost Revolut’s presence and services in the European market.
