Rivian cuts 2025 delivery target, ups spending amid tariff pressures

Electric auto maker Rivian is adjusting its 2025 targets for vehicle deliveries and capital spending due to President Trump’s tariffs, but reconfirms earnings expectations. The company cites global trade uncertainty impacting consumer sentiment. Rivian forecasts deliveries between 40,000 to 46,000 units and capital expenditures of $1.8 billion to $1.9 billion.

In the first quarter, Rivian reported a loss per share of 41 cents, beating expectations, and revenue of $1.24 billion. The company achieved its second consecutive quarter of gross profit, unlocking $1 billion from Volkswagen Group as part of their joint venture. The joint venture involves using Rivian’s software and electrical architecture.
