The Senate’s GENIUS Act calls for federal regulation of stablecoins with a market cap over $10 billion. Stablecoin market cap has surged to $246 billion, with Tether’s USDT at $150 billion. Stablecoins dominate crypto trading, offering speed, access, and low-cost payments.
Stablecoins are seen as strategic assets, reinforcing dollar dominance. The GENIUS Act may trigger a 10-fold increase in stablecoin supply. Investment bank Standard Chartered predicts a significant growth in the stablecoin market with the Act’s passage.
