From CNBC: 2025-05-28 12:55:00
Stellantis appointed Antonio Filosa as their new CEO, succeeding Carlos Tavares. Filosa, a 25-year veteran and former Jeep CEO, will focus on rebuilding relationships with partners and balancing investments in internal combustion engines and electric vehicles. Stellantis reported a 14% drop in first-quarter net revenues and withdrew financial guidance due to trade policy uncertainties.
Filosa’s appointment comes after Tavares’ resignation in December following profit decline and sales issues in the U.S. Stellantis aims to navigate the impact of Trump’s trade policy on the auto industry’s highly globalized supply chains. John Elkann will remain executive chairman, supporting Filosa in leading the multinational conglomerate through its next phase of development.
Shares of Milan-listed Stellantis are down nearly 27% year to date. Filosa, chosen over three external candidates and Stellantis head of procurement Maxime Picat, plans to visit the company’s global operations in the coming days. U.S. dealer council chair Michael Bettenhausen praised Filosa’s retail expertise and emphasized the need for new products to boost U.S. sales amidst upcoming challenges.
