Stellantis to End In-Car Technology Partnership With Amazon

From Nasdaq: 2025-05-29 08:47:00

Stellantis N.V. is ending its collaboration with Amazon on in-car software development after three years. The joint project, Stellantis SmartCockpit, aimed to enhance the driving experience and make the company more competitive against rivals like Tesla.

Despite the challenges of implementing software across 14 brands, Stellantis remains committed to its SmartCockpit concept. The company plans to pivot to a Google Android-based system for future software interfaces while continuing to use Amazon Web Services and Alexa in its vehicles.

Stellantis also announced upcoming software projects like STLA Autodrive and an AI-driven in-car assistant in partnership with Mistral AI. The company’s stock has fallen 54.4% in the past year compared to the industry’s 16.4% decline.

In the Auto space, Stellantis holds a Zacks Rank #5, while better-ranked stocks like Rivian Automotive and Standard Motor Products carry a Zacks Rank #2. Rivian is expected to see a year-over-year increase in losses, while SMP is anticipated to have a rise in earnings.

Zacks Investment Research has identified five stocks with the potential to double in value, with one standout pick poised for significant gains. This top pick in the financial industry is expected to outperform earlier Zacks’ top performers like Nano-X Imaging.
