Talga awards Worley EPCM contract for Vittangi graphite project to strengthen European battery supply chain

Talga Group has chosen Worley as the preferred contractor for their Vittangi graphite anode project in Sweden. A letter of intent has been signed, contingent on a positive final investment decision by Talga’s Board of Directors. Worley’s involvement since 2019 and financing expertise are seen as crucial for the project’s success.

The project has secured a €70m grant from the EU Innovation Fund and a €150m investment from the European Investment Bank. Talga’s graphite mine and battery anode plant have gained Strategic Project status under EU legislation, strengthening their role in Europe’s battery supply chain. Worley CEO Chris Ashton emphasizes their commitment to sustainable solutions and technical expertise.

Talga recently secured an exploitation concession for their Nunasvaara South natural graphite mine, a key part of the Vittangi anode project in Sweden. The partnership with Worley signifies a significant step towards Talga’s goal of becoming Europe’s leading sustainable anode producer. Talga’s CEO Martin Phillips highlights the importance of collaboration with Worley for the project’s success.
