TON Foundation appoints former Visa executive to lead global payments, partnering with Ethena and Tether

The Open Network Foundation (TON Foundation) appoints former Visa executive Nikola Plecas as Vice President of Payments. Plecas will shape and execute TON’s payment infrastructure strategy, expanding capabilities for over one billion Telegram users.
Plecas, with experience at Visa, will lead TON’s push to build a globally interoperable payment architecture. He has a track record in crypto-related initiatives and product development, streamlining on-ramp performance across markets and developing Visa’s digital currency engagement model for European clients.
Ethena partners with TON to make stablecoins available to Telegram’s one billion users. USDe and sUSDe will be deployed on the TON blockchain, with tsUSDe enabling USD savings directly within Telegram. TON also collaborates with Tether’s USDt ecosystem and plans to connect to at least 100 chains including ETH, TRX, and SOL.
