Producer prices in the U.S. unexpectedly dropped by 0.5% in April, as reported by the Labor Department. This is a decrease from the unchanged reading in March. Economists had predicted a 0.2% increase. The annual rate of producer price growth also slowed to 2.4% in April from a revised 3.4% in March.
