The UK unemployment rate rose to 4.5% in the three months to March, with pay growth declining. The employment rate remained steady at 75%, while the economic inactivity rate increased slightly to 21.4%. Vacancies fell by 42,000 to 761,000, marking the 34th consecutive quarterly decline.

Payrolled employees decreased by 0.2%, with early estimates for April showing a 0.1% decrease. Annual growth in regular pay was 5.6%, slightly lower than the previous quarter. Adjusted for inflation, real regular pay rose 1.8%, down from 2.1% in the previous quarter.

Total pay was up 1.7% in the quarter, compared to 1.9% in the previous quarter. This data includes figures for pay growth, employment rates, and vacancies in the UK labor market.
