Venture Global Receives Approval to Build CP2 LNG Plant in Louisiana

U.S. regulators approve Venture Global’s CP2 LNG plant in Louisiana. The 28 mtpa plant’s construction is set to begin immediately after the green light from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Once operational, Venture Global will become the largest LNG company in the U.S., surpassing Cheniere Energy’s capacity.

Venture Global (NYSE:VG) aims to provide clean, affordable energy through LNG export projects. Having become one of the largest LNG exporters in the U.S., the company’s latest approval for the CP2 LNG plant in Louisiana solidifies its position in the energy sector.

With the approval secured, Venture Global plans to start construction on the CP2 LNG plant immediately. This project will increase the company’s total LNG production capacity to 66.5 mtpa, positioning it ahead of Cheniere Energy’s expected 60 mtpa capacity.

Venture Global, a startup just three years ago, now operates two facilities in Louisiana with a combined capacity of 38.5 mtpa. The new CP2 project will boost the company’s total capacity to 66.5 mtpa, surpassing Cheniere Energy in liquefaction capacity in the U.S.
