The Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) has overtaken the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) as the world’s largest ETF, amassing $648 billion in assets under management. VOO’s rock-bottom expense ratio of 0.03% has attracted $59.5 billion in investor flows this year, while SPY has seen $24 billion pulled out. Vanguard’s reputation and cost advantage continue to drive VOO’s dominance, with the fund on track to break its 2024 inflow record of $116 billion.
