WeRide Announces Plan to Expand Commercial Robotaxi

WeRide Inc. announced unaudited financial results for Q1 2025, with total revenue of RMB72.4 million. Revenue from robotaxi business contributed 22.3% of total revenue, up from 11.9% in Q1 2024. Gross profit margin was 35%. The company also expanded global partnerships with Uber and Tencent Cloud for autonomous driving commercialization.

WeRide and Uber expanded their partnership to include 15 more cities over the next five years, with Uber committing to invest US$100 million. In Dubai, WeRide integrated self-driving robotaxis into the public transportation system through RTA and Uber. The partnership aims to explore data insights, safety protocols, and regulatory frameworks for autonomous mobility.

WeRide partnered with Tencent Cloud to support autonomous driving R&D and robotaxi commercialization. The two companies will explore commercial deployment of level-4 autonomous robotaxis, integrating WeRide’s services into platforms like Tencent Smart Transportation Mini Program on Weixin/WeChat.

WeRide launched fully driverless robotaxi testing in Abu Dhabi, a first in the Middle East. In Guangzhou, the company introduced eight autonomous robotaxi routes covering core areas of the city. Additionally, the company received a level-4 trial operation permit for its Robobus in France.

WeRide continued to expand its robosweeper operations in Chinese cities and launched a trial service in Jurong Lake Gardens, Singapore. The company’s AV platform, WeRide One, achieved major breakthroughs, including a new generation of ADAS powered by QNX® OS for Safety.

For Q1 2025, WeRide reported a net loss of RMB385.1 million, compared to RMB468.1 million in Q1 2024. Basic and diluted net loss per ADS were RMB1.38. The company had RMB4,428.5 million in cash and cash equivalents as of March 31, 2025.

WeRide’s Board authorized a share repurchase program of up to US$100 million. The company appointed new members to the Board. WeRide is a global leader in autonomous driving, with operations in over 30 cities across 10 countries, offering products and services across various urban use cases.
