Truckload carrier Werner Enterprises has suspended its 401(k) matching program for employees as part of a $40 million cost savings initiative. The stock is down 26.9% in the past year. The company aims to reinstate the benefit in the future pending financial improvement. Werner posted its first quarterly operating loss, with a net income loss of 12 cents per share, falling short of revenue estimates by $27 million. The operating loss was $5.8 million, compared to a $15.6 million income a year earlier. Werner does not forecast earnings, indicating a continued weak market outlook.
