This week, the energy sector saw a surge in WTI crude oil prices to over $63 due to the US-China truce. Despite gains, the oil supply remains high, limiting price increases. Most producers in the Permian Basin can’t break even at $65, risking job cuts and drilling stops.

Greenfire Resources Ltd. (GFR) ranks 6th in the list of energy stocks losing this week. The company’s Q1 2025 results fell short of expectations, with EPS at $0.17 missing by $0.06. Revenue dropped by 8.6% YoY, while bitumen production fell by 10% from the previous quarter to 17,495 bbls/d.
