Willamette Valley Vineyards, based in the US, has named Michael Osborn, founder of Wine.com, as its new CEO. This move follows founder Jim Bernau’s decision to step back from the CEO role in January. Osborn’s appointment is effective immediately, bringing visionary leadership and experience to invigorate the brand nationally and globally.

Osborn, who founded Wine.com in Portland, has built it into a leading online wine retailer over 27 years. He plans to work with the team at Willamette Valley Vineyards to elevate the winery’s national and global presence while staying connected to Oregon’s unique wine culture.

Founded in 1983, Willamette Valley Vineyards has grown to more than 1,000 acres, producing over 260,000 cases annually. The winery manages several estates across Oregon, employing over 350 staff and more than 40 managers overseeing operations in ten tasting rooms in Oregon, south-west Washington, and California.

For the year ending 31 December, Willamette Valley Vineyards reported net sales of $39.8m, up 1.7% from the previous year. The company’s net loss narrowed by 90.2% to $117,894 compared to the prior year, with gross profit increasing by 7.3% year-over-year to $24.2m. Higher gross profit was driven by increased sales revenue and improved margins.
