Akre Capital Seeks $12.2B Mutual Fund to ETF Conversion

Akre Capital Management plans to convert its Akre Focus Fund to an ETF in fall 2025, with $12.2 billion in assets. Shareholders can expect enhanced tax efficiency, transparency, and lower costs with an expense ratio of 0.98%. The decision to convert was made to benefit shareholders over launching a standalone ETF or introducing an ETF share class.
This move is part of a trend where asset managers are converting mutual funds to ETFs to take advantage of tax benefits, lower expenses, and intraday trading. Last year, $579 billion in net outflows from mutual funds shifted to ETFs. BlackRock also recently filed to convert two funds to ETFs, following suit with this growing trend in the investment fund space.
