Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) plans to invest $20 billion in Pennsylvania for data center infrastructure expansion, part of a larger AI investment strategy. The investment could create 1,250 high-skilled jobs and support thousands more through the AWS data center supply chain. Initial sites could be Salem Township and Falls Township.

Amazon’s Q1 capital spending was nearly $25 billion, with projections for the same level of spending for the rest of 2025. The tech giant did not provide a specific timeline for the investment, nor did it clarify if the $20 billion was part of prior capital spending strategies. The company operates across e-commerce, subscription services, cloud computing, and digital advertising segments.

The investment in Pennsylvania follows Amazon’s recent plans for $10 billion in North Carolina and $5 billion in Taiwan cloud infrastructure. The company aims to support generative AI with heavy investments, competing with other tech giants in building the best AI models and cloud services. Amazon did not specify if the $20 billion investment was included in its prior capital spending.
