Amazon Plans To Invest Over $5 Bln In Taiwan

Amazon.com Inc. plans to invest over $5 billion in data centers in Taiwan to support the new AWS Asia Pacific (Taipei) Region. The region offers a wide range of cloud services, including analytics, AI, and storage.
The Vice President of Infrastructure Services at AWS, Prasad Kalyanaraman, stated that the new region will allow organizations to build and scale confidently while meeting local data residency requirements. The region currently has three availability zones, adding to AWS’s global total of 117 availability zones across 37 regions.
AWS has ambitious expansion plans, with 13 more availability zones and four additional AWS regions in the pipeline for Chile, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, and the AWS European sovereign cloud.
