Amazon-owned Zoox has opened its first production facility in Hayward, California, to build 10,000 robotaxis annually. Currently testing vehicles in multiple U.S. cities and offering rides in Las Vegas, Zoox plans to expand to San Francisco. The facility will assemble custom-built robotaxis for commercial markets in Las Vegas and San Francisco, with plans for operations in Austin and Miami in the future. The factory will utilize a mix of human workers and robots for assembly, with robots handling specific tasks like glass installation and transportation.
